On the MATA website, www.matatransit.com, you will find a “Trip Planner” that advertises it will provide you with route information. It proclaims over the Internet to explain how a bus rider can get from origin to destination, presumably what bus routes to take.

In the second of a series of tests, MATA failed to respond as the website promises. To use the “Trip Planner” the MATA rider is asked to provide origin and destination street addresses, 24 hours in advance. The MATA website pledges to respond in 24 hours to the inquiry so the rider may use the route planning the next day.

However, MATA deceives customers in the two tests of this feature by not providing route information. The short online form asks for both an e-mail address and a telephone number implying that MATA may call with the route info, or send an e-mail response.

In the second test of the “Trip Planner” the test subject asked for information on “accessible buses,” but did not receive any information on accessibility.
