Hello: I am a mechanical engineer and scientist who is working in the field of wheelchair transport. I would like to hear from any wheelchair users, concerning their experiences with mass transit? I am particularly interested in the ride quality of buses. - Has anyone ever been further injured due to hitting a pothole while riding on a bus?
- Does the vibration of the bus cause any harm to wheelchair users?
- Have you had any trouble with a wheelchair restraint system on a bus?
- Are their any laws covering the legal standards (if any) for vibration and shock which apply to wheelchair users of school or transit buses?
- Is there a lobbying group, which is pushing for better ride quality for wheelchair seated bus riders?
- Has any testing on wheelchair users concerning shock or vibration in any moving vehicle ever been done?
- Is any one out there doing shock and vibration testing on wheelchair users in transit at the present time?
Thank you for reading and / or responding to my questions. Perhaps together we can improve mass transit for the wheelchair user.
